Frank William Abagnale, Jr. in Maldives?

After reading this article i feel like Abagnale is in Maldives how on earth Maldives bank had three similar cheque fraud issues. I found this article from internet news website minivan news, read and think wahts going on (Minivan has received three tip-offs about fraudulent transactions at the Bank of Maldives, which appear to be ‘an inside job’ by employees. In each case, the accounts have had large amounts of money withdrawn. But when the account holder complained, the bank refused to give more details of the fraudulent transactions. Soon after the complaints, the sum of money in question was replaced by an anonymous source, suggesting someone inside the bank had withdrawn the money, hoping it would go unnoticed) Read full article

The World's Billionaires

William Gates III Warren Buffett Carlos Slim HelĂș Ingvar Kamprad
It has been a busy year in the fortune-hunting business. Strong equity markets combined with rising real estate values and commodity prices pushed up fortunes from Mumbai to Madrid. Forbes pinned down 946 billionaires, including 178 newcomers and 17 people who climbed back into the ranks after being absent for a year or more. Two-thirds of last year's billionaires are richer. Only 17% are poorer, including 32 who fell below the billion-dollar mark. The billionaires' combined net worth climbed by $900 billion to $3.5 trillion. (full report)

The Celebrity 100 Billionaires

1. Tom Cruise 2. Rolling Stones 3. Oprah Winfrey 4. U2 5. Tiger Woods
The rich and famous have had a great year and a terrible one. Movie attendance dropped 8% last year as fans retreated to their home theaters, complaining of, among other things, high ticket prices. Can-do-no-wrong actors such as Nicole Kidman delivered the year's biggest turkeys (Bewitched, anyone?). As a result, box office receipts fell 5% to $8.9 billion. Breakups, babies and betrayals monopolized the headlines nearly eclipsing the careers of actors such as Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. But generating headlines isn't enough to solidify your standing in Hollywood. A fat paycheck won't do it, either. Only a combination of earnings and sizzle will land a celebrity a coveted spot on our Celebrity 100 list of the most powerful names in the business. (special report)

Record exhibitors sign up for ITB 2007

A total of 10,923 companies from 184 countries and territories will be presenting their tourism attractions on a display area measuring some 160,000 square metres at ITB this year. The world's leading trade show for the travel industry again takes place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 7 to 11 March. Visitors to the 41st ITB Berlin can obtain a complete review of everything currently on offer from the travel industry. The exhibitors range from service providers such as hotels and airlines to tour operators, and individual countries and regions. The ITB Berlin continues to grow and the number of exhibitors has risen by one more percentage point since last year. "The ITB Berlin not only claims to reflect the current state of this sector but, with the world's largest convention for the industry, it also shows the rapid pace of change in this field. It helps to identify new strategies for constantly changing consumer demand, The ITB Berlin sees its role as providing a fresh impetus and pointing the way for the global travel industry. This has proved to be a successful concept, which is why the ITB Berlin is expanding into Asia and will be staging a specialist exhibition and convention for the first time in Singapore in the autumn of 2008."

Try Six Sigma

All the CEO’s and directors of today’s modern business are very much concerned on the situation and their day to day performance. Over the last couple of years most of the companies has consulted with specialists to work on their Six Sigma. Multinational companies are even conducting trainings or scheduling their training programs for Six Sigma. It shows and monitors statistically the impact of business expenditure and customer impact to achieve targeted GOP and shows the outlook of the coming months/quarters. Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology, originally developed by Motorola to systematically improve processes by eliminating defects. Defects are defined as unacceptable deviation from the mean or target. The objective of Six Sigma is to deliver high performance, reliability, and value to the end customer. Since it was originally developed, Six Sigma has enjoyed wide popularity as an important element of many Total Quality Management initiatives. The core of the Six Sigma methodology is a data-driven, systematic approach to problem solving, with a focus on customer impact. Statistical tools and analysis are often useful in the process. However, it is a mistake to view the core of the Six Sigma methodology as statistics; an acceptable Six Sigma project can be started with only rudimentary statistical tools. Still, some professional statisticians criticize Six Sigma because practitioners have highly varied levels of understanding of the statistics involved. Six Sigma as a problem-solving approach has traditionally been used in fields such as business, engineering, and production processes.

Early US presidential election polls

Hillary Rodham Clinton is the clear favorite in early polls for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. So, what does that mean? Not a lot, if history is any guide. Republican hopeful Rudy Giuliani, however, is sitting pretty. For at least three decades, Republicans have been far better than Democrats in early polls at getting behind the candidates who end up winning the party's presidential nomination. Republicans have picked the early front-runner in seven of the past 10 elections, according to Gallup polling. In the other three elections, Republican incumbents cruised to re-election. Democrats nominated a former vice president, Walter Mondale, in 1984, and a sitting vice president, Al Gore, in 2000. For those elections, the early polls were more predictable at picking the front-runner. Why has the Republican Party been better at predicting winners? "There is this sense among Republicans — a belief that it's a certain person's time to run for president," said Thomas Mann, a political analyst at the Brookings Institution. But the Republican track record is probably due more to chance and the Republicans' success at winning the White House since 1968, he said. (Read full article)

Surprises a head in 2007

There are more than 2 billion USB peripherals in the world including, most likely, your printer, mouse, keyboard, ipod, camera and just about anything else attached to your computer. But what if they didn’t have to be attached? That’s the promise of wireless USB, or WUSB. A new global standard those PC manufacturers will begin incorporating into their machines soon. Faster, easier to connect, and less power consuming than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, WUB’s ultra-windeband radio technology can deliver data at a hyper fast 480 megabits per second the same as USB 2.0 at a range of up to 10 meters. And WUSB enabled machines can support as many as 127 connected devices simultaneously. That makes for a lot fewer cables on your desktop.

iPhone - Introducing Next Generation Technology

The Apple iPhone, which was announced by CEO Steve Jobs, will be available starting in June exclusively through AT&T's Cingular Wireless. Apple has said it hopes to sell 10 million units in 2008, or about 1 percent of the market.

Phone combines three products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. It is completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.
Pricing of the iPhone – expected to be $499 for the 4GB version and $599 for the 8GB version. However, analysts criticized Apple is setting an aggressive price and it will drop very soon. Most of the market analyzers estimate the 4-gigabyte version of the iPhone, with a retail price of $499, will cost Apple $245.83 to make, the 8-gigabyte version, priced at $599, will cost Apple $280.83. And this is a 50 percent gross margin on sales price. Greg Joswiak, Vice president of Apple Company is totally against all these comments by viewers and customers world wide. And all he added is “Unfortunately most phones haven’t had much to compete on today other than price.” to MacWorld news earlier this month.

Who is on the race for USA 2008

Senator Barack Obama's Announcement for President
Let me begin by saying thanks to all you who've traveled, from far and wide, to brave the cold today. We all made this journey for a reason. It's humbling, but in my heart I know you didn't come here just for me, you came here because you believe in what this country can be. In the face of war, you believe there can be peace. In the face of despair, you believe there can be hope. In the face of a politics that's shut you out, that's told you to settle, that's divided us for too long, you believe we can be one people, reaching for what's possible, building that more perfect union. That's the journey we're on today. But let me tell you how I came to be here. As most of you know, I am not a native of this great state. I moved to Illinois over two decades ago. I was a young man then, just a year out of college; I knew no one in Chicago, was without money or family connections. But a group of churches had offered me a job as a community organizer for $13,000 a year. And I accepted the job, sight unseen, motivated then by a single, simple, powerful idea - that I might play a small part in building a better America. Checkout (Campaign Site)
