I found this article from internet news website minivan news, read and think wahts going on (Minivan has received three tip-offs about fraudulent transactions at the Bank of Maldives, which appear to be ‘an inside job’ by employees. In each case, the accounts have had large amounts of money withdrawn. But when the account holder complained, the bank refused to give more details of the fraudulent transactions. Soon after the complaints, the sum of money in question was replaced by an anonymous source, suggesting someone inside the bank had withdrawn the money, hoping it would go unnoticed) Read full article

The World's Billionaires

William Gates III Warren Buffett Carlos Slim HelĂș Ingvar Kamprad
It has been a busy year in the fortune-hunting business. Strong equity markets combined with rising real estate values and commodity prices pushed up fortunes from Mumbai to Madrid. Forbes pinned down 946 billionaires, including 178 newcomers and 17 people who climbed back into the ranks after being absent for a year or more. Two-thirds of last year's billionaires are richer. Only 17% are poorer, including 32 who fell below the billion-dollar mark. The billionaires' combined net worth climbed by $900 billion to $3.5 trillion. (full report)

The Celebrity 100 Billionaires

1. Tom Cruise 2. Rolling Stones 3. Oprah Winfrey 4. U2 5. Tiger Woods
The rich and famous have had a great year and a terrible one. Movie attendance dropped 8% last year as fans retreated to their home theaters, complaining of, among other things, high ticket prices. Can-do-no-wrong actors such as Nicole Kidman delivered the year's biggest turkeys (Bewitched, anyone?). As a result, box office receipts fell 5% to $8.9 billion. Breakups, babies and betrayals monopolized the headlines nearly eclipsing the careers of actors such as Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. But generating headlines isn't enough to solidify your standing in Hollywood. A fat paycheck won't do it, either. Only a combination of earnings and sizzle will land a celebrity a coveted spot on our Celebrity 100 list of the most powerful names in the business. (special report)

Record exhibitors sign up for ITB 2007

A total of 10,923 companies from 184 countries and territories will be presenting their tourism attractions on a display area measuring some 160,000 square metres at ITB this year. The world's leading trade show for the travel industry again takes place on the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from 7 to 11 March. Visitors to the 41st ITB Berlin can obtain a complete review of everything currently on offer from the travel industry. The exhibitors range from service providers such as hotels and airlines to tour operators, and individual countries and regions. The ITB Berlin continues to grow and the number of exhibitors has risen by one more percentage point since last year. "The ITB Berlin not only claims to reflect the current state of this sector but, with the world's largest convention for the industry, it also shows the rapid pace of change in this field. It helps to identify new strategies for constantly changing consumer demand, The ITB Berlin sees its role as providing a fresh impetus and pointing the way for the global travel industry. This has proved to be a successful concept, which is why the ITB Berlin is expanding into Asia and will be staging a specialist exhibition and convention for the first time in Singapore in the autumn of 2008."
